Using HJSplit to combine files

E-mail Print PDF

Tools you'll need:

  • HJSplit

Occasionally you'll come across archives that aren't recognized by Winrar. They almost always have a file extension consisting of numbers. For example, you'll see something like AVI.001, AVI.002, AVI.003, etc. If you discover a file set like this you'll need to use HJSplit to combine the files into a usable format. (I.E. AVI, MPG, ISO, etc)

When you first load HJSplit you'll see a window like this:

Click the "Join" button and you'll see a screen like this:

Finally click the "Input File" button and select the location of the first file in the set. This will be the file with the .001 file extension.

That's it! HJSplit will join all the files together and place the combined file in the same directory the archive set was in. (If you want it in a different directory simply click the "Output Directory" button to choose to save the combined file somewhere else instead.)
